My SEO Journey So Far

My start as an SEO back in 2015 can be described as trial by fire. While most start out in a low-competition niche and start with content, I started in the gambling nice with link building.

This resulted in having a small agency offering high quality link building to clients such as PokerStars and 888 while still going to university.

Later I joined Global Gaming (which is now part of Entain) as an in-house SEO specialist for my university’s intern program.

Here I worked on one of Sweden’s and Finland’s biggest online gambling sites at the time, Ninja Casino. We managed to secure many top 3 positions for high value keywords, even ranking position 1 for the keyword ‘casino’. This was with a JavaScript single page application using Prerender.io

Eventually I was offered a full-time contract and some time later promoted to SEO manager.

After this I was offered the Head of SEO position for a similar company, Mandalorian Technologies, which is now part of Paf. Here I had to deal with the challenges of making their React platform SEO-friendly, and building the SEO strategy from ground-up. Got some great results here in terms of ranking for many different games.

At some point I was approached by angel investors to start my own affiliate company. Which we ran for a couple of years but eventually had to close due to a series of unfortunate events, but also some wrong business decisions.

However, this has been an extremely valuable learning experience where I learned a lot about building revenue-focussed websites from scratch.

My most recent experience has been as Head of SEO for an agency specialized in high-competition niches. Here I led a small team of SEO specialists and VA’s while also working on internal affiliate sites. Here I’ve worked on a wide variety of sites. WordPress, custom stacks, JavaScript, small, large, and so on.

During all this time I have also constantly worked on my own side-projects, which I still do. I enjoy experimenting with technologies ranging from WordPress to Progressive Web Apps and much more.
